WILD HEAVEN CRAFT BEERS ANNOUNCES PLANS TO BEGIN CONSTRUCTION OF BREWERY
Avondale Estates Chosen As Location For Three Year Old Company
, Georgia (October 4, 2013) — Wild Heaven Craft Beers has announced plans to begin construction on its long-awaited brewery, to be located in Avondale Estates. The project, which will be overseen by Choate Construction, is slated to commence in the coming weeks, following a groundbreaking ceremony taking place October 24th. The news comes on the heels of two key milestones for Wild Heaven: completion of full funding for the construction of the brewery and the transition of Consulting Brewmaster Eric Johnson’s daily focus from Trappeze, the globally renowned Athens beer bar he founded in 2007, to his role as Wild Heaven’s brewmaster.
“Eric and I have been working towards opening a brewery, since I first proposed the idea to him in 2007,” says Wild Heaven Craft Beers founder, Nick Purdy. “We’re proud of the beers we’ve created thus far and excited to share our new home with beer lovers the world over.”
The Wild Heaven Craft Beers brewery will be located in Avondale Estates, seven miles east of downtown Atlanta and just one mile from the Decatur Square where Wild Heaven launched just over three years ago at the Brick Store Pub. The 8000 square foot facility will be outfitted with a 30-barrel brewing system, which holds a place in Georgia brewing history, having served both SweetWater Brewing and Terrapin Brewing. A tasting room featuring each of Wild Heaven’s beers and new one-off creations will be the centerpiece of the new space. Additionally, The Pearly Gates, Johnson’s one-of-a-kind pilot brewing system, will move from his backyard in Winterville, Georgia to a prime spot adjacent to the main system. The system will allow for the tasting room to feature a constant rotation of experimental and exciting beers unavailable anywhere else.
“Wild Heaven is a fantastic addition to our city,” says Avondale Estates Mayor, Ed Reiker. “It’s an important part of the revitalization of downtown Avondale, through new traffic to the city as well as new jobs.”
